What does “please revert” mean in an email?
“An email asking you to go backwards while expecting a reply.” — Arthur
Original
“Please revert at your earliest convenience.”
Plain English
“Please reply when you can.”
What the wording leaves out
They want a response. “Revert” normally means return to an earlier state, so it is a confusing way to ask.
What to check
If they need an answer by a particular day, ask for the date. “At your earliest convenience” leaves it open.
