Arthur’s jargon buster
What does “Stakeholder” mean?
A person or group affected by a decision.
“There are people involved. It might help to name them.” — Arthur
In context
This can mean customers, staff, suppliers or owners. “The stakeholders” is too vague when the reader needs to know whose approval is required.
A clearer version
“Ask the shop managers and customers before changing the opening hours.”
Where it gets vague
Name the people involved. That makes the next action much easier to understand.
